David just spent two weeks at the Brush Creek Foundation in Saratoga, Wyoming, eating for free, writing a lot, searching in vain for the moose that lurked in the woods, abducting a jackalope, taking long meandering hikes, and spending time with the talented artists Doot Bokelman, Tori Ellison, and Randall Tipton, the writers Eric Wyatt and Chris Fadden, the filmmaker Denise Iris, and the composer Ed Knight.
He couldn’t have asked for better companionship, and during the two weeks of his residency, he put together his new book, WHITE PLAINS, a novel-in-stories about a down-and-out man who loses everything and by the end, finds a good place to live, meets a good woman, and recaptures the love of his children.
